
Dr. Assumpta MUHAYISA is the Emotional Psychology Specialist at Wihogora Psychosocial Centre. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology with specialization in Systemic and Family Psychotherapy from the “Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)” in Belgium. She has been lecturing Clinical Psychology and Therapeutics at University of Rwanda (UR) beore serving as the Executive Director of Memory and Genocide Prevention Department at the Rwanda Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINIBUMWE).
With more than 20 years in clinical Psychology, she has been a lecturer of University of Rwanda and she is with Wihogora Psychosocial Centre since 2024. She also holds a Master and Bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from the National University of Rwanda (UNR). She conducted here doctorate research on the “Situation familiale des enfants issus du viol commis pendant le Génocide au Rwanda: Approche Systémique”. her Bachelor in Clinical Psychology. She was a Lecturer of Psychology, specialized in Systemic and Family Psychotherapy at University of Rwanda (2013-2021) before working in the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement as the Executive Director of Memory and Genocide Ideology Department (2021-2023). She published a lot on trauma healing among Genocide Survivors and she currently working with Wihogora Psychosocial Centre as a full time Mental Health Specialist and Head of Clinical Supervision
